Code of Conduct & Professional Etiquette Agreement

As an intern at Healthy Toddlers Care (HTC), I understand that I am participating in an educational work-experience placement within a licensed family childcare facility. I agree to uphold the following professional standards:

Cell Phone & Personal Device Policy:

  • Personal cell phones and smartwatches must be stored away in designated personnel storage areas during active shift hours.
  • Personal cell phone usage, texting, social media browsing, or personal calls are strictly prohibited while assisting in active childcare, classroom activities, or outdoor supervision.
  • Emergency calls must be routed through the primary facility phone or pre-approved by the Director.

Punctuality & Attendance Standard:

  • Interns must arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
  • In the event of an unavoidable emergency or illness, the intern must notify Director Bridgette Moss at least 2 hours prior to the start of their scheduled shift.
  • Unexcused tardiness or unexcused absences constitute non-compliance with host site rules and may result in immediate placement termination.

Active Supervision & Interaction:

  • Under Title 22 state regulations, interns must remain under the direct supervision of the Director or lead staff at all times and are NEVER left alone with children.
  • Interns are expected to actively engage with children in constructive, positive learning activities (STEAM, yoga, music, reading, outdoor play).

Confidentiality & Privacy:

  • All information regarding enrolled children, families, staff, and facility operations is strictly confidential. Interns may not discuss facility business outside of professional mentorship contexts.

Professional Communication:

  • Interns will maintain polite, respectful, and encouraging communication with children, lead staff, and parents at all times.

Footwear: Closed-toe shoes with non-slip soles are mandatory for outdoor play and classroom safety. Flip-flops, open-toed sandals, and high heels are strictly prohibited.

Nail Grooming: Short, clean fingernails are mandatory for safety, hygiene, and scratch prevention when handling infants and young children. Long, pointed, or acrylic artificial nails are strictly prohibited.

Jewelry & Accessories: Minimal jewelry only. Long necklaces, dangling earrings, or sharp rings that could catch or scratch young children must be avoided.
