Healthy Toddlers Care

Summer Youth Intern Program — Program Overview

For Parents, Guardians, and Student Files

Program Mission

The Healthy Toddlers Care Summer Youth Intern Program is a structured volunteer experience designed to give young leaders (ages 13–17) the opportunity to develop confidence, responsibility, and real-world professional skills in a licensed childcare setting. Interns serve as role models and helpers alongside our qualified teaching staff throughout the Summer 2026 term.

Program Highlights

  • • Real-world experience working alongside certified Child Development Teachers in a licensed, Title 22-compliant facility.
  • • Leadership development — interns are treated as junior team members and held to professional expectations.
  • • Flexible scheduling designed to accommodate working families.
  • • Structured daily routine including a dedicated 2-hour personal break during toddler naptime.
  • • Community service hours may be earned (verify with your school or organization).

Schedule Tracks

Interns may select one of two part-time schedule tracks to accommodate working families:

Track A

Tuesdays & Thursdays

Track B

Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays

A Custom/Flexible Schedule may also be arranged directly with the Center Director.

Daily Structure

  • Active Program Hours: Interns work alongside teachers supporting children in play, learning activities, and daily routines.
  • Naptime Break (~2 hrs): Interns enjoy a dedicated personal break. Phones, tablets, and books are welcome during this time only.
  • Meals & Snacks: Interns are responsible for bringing their own daily lunch, snacks, and water bottle.

Title 22 Compliance Requirements

Required before the first day:

  • • Negative TB clearance
  • • Proof of Measles (MMR) immunization
  • • Proof of Pertussis (Tdap) immunization
  • • Proof of Influenza immunization (current season)
  • • Volunteer helpers only — always under direct visual supervision of a qualified Adult Child Development Teacher.
  • • Never left alone with enrolled children at any time.
  • • Not counted in ratios — interns do not count toward the facility's legal staff-to-child operating ratios.
  • • No private care tasks — interns do not perform diapering, toileting, or isolated medical care.

Device & Personal Belongings Policy

  • • Active hours: Phones and devices must remain fully zipped in the intern's backpack.
  • • Naptime break: Personal devices are welcome.
  • • Lost items: Healthy Toddlers Care is not responsible for lost or damaged personal belongings.
